I wanted to power my scope externally vs the limited capability of the internal AA option but I didn't want to spend another $100 doing it. I am powering my IR illuminator with rechargeable RCR134s so I only needed power for the scope. This is what I came up with.
This is an 8000mAh powerpack. It will power the scope for 8-10 hours with everything on(GPS, WIfi, etc), depending on the temperature. I bought a cheap 30mm scope ring mount to attach it with. The balance is good. I don't have to deal with anything attached to the stock (I didn't like that feeling) and my cable is in a better location as well.
The total cost was half of the price of the ATN external battery pack. I can also mount it forward of the scope on my rail if I wanted to have my light back next to the scope. Right now my light is mounted under the barrel.
I did have to get some longer screws (4.0-.7mm x 25mm) for the scope mount as the power pack is not exactly round, it is shaped more like an E-Long race track.
Hi folk, this is my first post here. Using the X-Sight II for 2 years now and the range finder since the first of the year, very happy with it.
This battery mount is similar to my approach, but I 3D printed a set of mounts to attach a 6,000 mAh USB battery to the main rail leaving the illuminator rail free for the illuminator. This gives me something over 6 hours of use. I also printed a cover for the side port that uses O-rings to seal around the cover and the plug. I also found a 6” USB cable on Amazon that made the installation neat.
On one of the photos you can also see the reduced aperture I printed for day time use that pops in and out so that I don’t have to take the range finder off to install/remove the factory supplied aperture. Seems like this would be a good thing for ATN to make.
Let me apologize for the photos being on their side, they are upright on my machine
hob666: I have zeroed my X sight..not done via the ballistic calculator, question is , will the ABL laser once paired still move the reticle according to distance to POI
Jul 17, 2019 1:59:13 GMT -8
Widowmaker: hob666. No. It will move the reticle to your POA. Not your POI. POI is dependent on whether your projectile impacts your POA. If you miss your POA, your POI will be the result.

Widowmaker: The ABL is a Bluetooth enabled range finder and is a supplemental input for manual distance input only. Does not care about your ballistics information or if you have your SSS turned on. Just inputs a distance of your ABL ranged target via Bluetooth
