Hello folks. New guy (old guy too) I've got the a ATN X-sight 4 pro 5-20 and I'm really stuck trying to down load the firm ware from my commuter. My MacBook Pro (Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6) has no SD slot but I've purchased an apple card reader which goes into the USB C slot. For the life of me I can not get this computer to seem to recognize this card reader. Spent most of the afternoon on line trying to figure it out with no luck.
I'm woefully inadequate with computers and will need some hand holding or very clear instructions if help is even possible. I just don't understand why when this device is plugged into the computer it doesn't wake or at least make something change to identify it's there.
What I am trying to do is to down load the firmware onto the mini SD chip so that I can then transfer that into the scope.
I have a MacBook Pro and will try and help you out. Are you looking for the card reader in Finder? It will not show anything until the SD card is inserted and then it can show up under a variety of names, everything from SanDisk (if that's the brand) to unknown. Be sure to initialize format) the sd card in the scope. You'll find that on one of the scope menu screens.
If you do all the and you still can't see it in Finer, it may be the reader. I have 2 USB SD Card readers, one works with the MacBook and the other doesn't but it will work on a Windows machine. I have no idea why, but if it doesn't work, and you know someone with a SD Card reader, you may want to borrow it and see if it works before you go buy another one. Please let me know if this helps.

I am wondering if I have too large of a SD card? Reading on the forum it seems that could be an issue with the sight and reading about the computer itself there seems to be some question about the cards with larger memories (?) I'll get a smaller one tomorrow. And yes the problem seems that Finder isn't finding it, I've give up for the evening but will be back at it tomorrow.
Thank you so much. It's always something stupid or silly but also frustrating for people over 70 (72). But then I'm grateful that I have sufficient faculties to even try, The sight seems pretty slick it I can get it up and running.

I've got things working at least partially. I am getting frustrated. I finally got my computer to read the SD card it apparently is just a matter of the position of the SD card in the reader. Pushed entirely in the entire way and it doesn't catch. Back the card out a 1/16 inch and the reader appears on the screen.
I drug the program into the reader and down loaded it on to the card. My assumption was when the card was placed into the scope it would be recognized as outlined in the manual. No such luck. So I don't know if it's down loaded the information to the scope or even if the program is actually on the card. The manual doesn't seem to jive with what is going on in the scope
I've got the scope functioning and recording but I can't pair it to my phone. And as far as bluetooth I haven't seen a blue tooth icon in the short cut bar. I also can't get the scope to go to firmware update. Skips past that and goes back to the top to the menu.
Clearly the learning curve is steep with this device.
The firmware .bin file needs to be in the root directory. When you look at the card in Finder, you should see a fold that the scope creates and then the .bin file. Be sure the scope is powered off when you insert the card. When you power it on, it should read the .bin file if it's a newer version than what is already installed. It's been a while since I did it, so I don't recall what you should see on the screen in the scope.
I have never gotten the app to work on my iPhone or iPad. They connect to the scope via wifi and has to be connected to the scope in order to work. Unfortunately, when it's connected to the scope, it's not connected to the internet!
I had an older Samsung Tab4 that runs the Android OS. I can connect using it and can download the videos and pictures from the scope, but since it's not Apple and everything else I have is, they don't like talking to each other. I have managed to figure out a work around using Dropbox, but it's a multi-step process and is much more complicated than is needs to be!

Well the process continues. Right now my problem is two I've lost two SD micro cards into the unit. I've discovered the the cards have to be directed UP into the slot or they slip below and are apparently lost into the hinter lands. Which doesn't seem to affect the operation of the scope (or does it?). Right now I can't get the scope to record video but it will record stills. The icon for recording is ON but nothing is found on the SD card when it's removed and placed in the reader.
I am making some progress I think but this things may get the best of me yet.
OK. I put in a new SD card and FORMATED it I don't know if that was what was wrong or not, BUT I've got things working reasonable well at this point.
Lots of time invested way more then what should be needed
Biggest thing I've learned is be VERY careful about how you insert those little SD cards. Why do they not use a standard sized card?
motor: G'day everyone from Australia, I used to own a 4k Pro however it died on me for no apparent reason to be honest ATN were not very helpful. I have since purchased the X-sight 2 prefer it as you can remove batteries or use power pack

odin: Zoom level should be showing near top R/H corner of screen and should change as you use the zoom arrows. If not try going to settings menu and turning on widgets - not sure if this affects zoom display but worth a try.

retired: bbs1361 - What Odin said, try VLC media player. It is a free download. In a previous life I had to play video from multiple sources and VLC would play the majority of them.
