I call ATN and talked with them. They told me for the environmental to work correctly, the GPS needed to be turned on. I have looked and looked but can not find anything about turning on the GPS. They told me it was in the main carousel but i can not find it. Can anyone help me with this?
A GPS chip is not installed in the 4K Pro, the altitude is from a barometric pressure sensor. I talked with ATN about updating the altitude by entering the local barometric pressure but was told it was not possible. We have what the scope thinks is the altitude is.

I thank you for the clarification. I thought I was going crazy because I couldn't find the GPS switch. So if I understand, it is what it is. No way to change it and getting another scope isn't going to change what the scope thinks. I guess with the correct barometric pressure setting, the altitude becomes less important to the ballistic calculator. I don't know enough about the BC to know what is important and what is not to the calculation.
I hunt about 500 feet above mean sea level. Unless you hunt above 3 to 5 thousand feet, the pressure readings of your scope will probably work fine. If you are 8 thousand or above, the thin air changes ballistics radically as well as changes the supersonic speed threshold. I think temperature and up or down slope angles are more important at my altitude. (OK, I know that to real sharp shooters all of these variables are important but with whatever altitude my scope reads it pretty accurate when I adjust the distance).
Havent tried mine down in the central North Island (NZ) yet. Here we can have an altitude change of over 3000 feet during a days hunt. All that I have hunted with the scope is within 500ft of sea level and like Jim above, the scope works fine. Screwed myself up big time once by putting the wind speed in correctly, but from 90 degrees wrong angle - this did have an effect on the scope and had a couple of dramatic misses before I beat myself up for been an idiot. As with all computers, if you input junk, you will get junk out.

So I was playing with my 4K Pro tonight and went in to the Environmental table to enter the current data and lo and behold the Barometric pressure and altitude were correct. This is the first time that the readings have been correct. I hope that they have finally normalized and will continue to work (knock on wood). Hurry!

Yep, but the altitude was correct for where I live. First time ever. BP was close to the forecast, but not correct. Is 29.92 some default value assigned by ATN? The BP has been lower but now that I think about it, never higher.
The altitude on my scope is showing as -89m but the real altitude is +40 meters Is there a reason why? So I need to do anything to calibrate the scope?
I don't use the BC since I only shoot 50-75 feet with an air rifle at home. Having the pressure and altitude in the menu just seems confusing since it will most likely always be wrong since the end user can't dial in the correct information when the scope is turned on. It's never correct at my house, could be several hundred feet off at times.
Years ago I was involved with search and rescue and had both a hand held altimeter when on foot and an aircraft altimeter in my vehicle. Both were useless if not set with the proper information at the beginning of using them.
Before leaving home, I would dial in the home altitude into the altimeter in the truck. If I had to drive 70 miles to get to the mountain pass at 3,000 feet, I would have to make adjustments to get it reading the correct altitude for that location.
Pressure is always changing and is different in different locations, so not being able to make corrections on the fly makes the information these devices are reading out of little value if precision is needed.
Just for grins, I dug out my hand held altimeter and set it for the correct altitude for my home which is 340 feet. Then I checked the pressure using local weather information for my area, it was 29.92 in. I was surprised at how close the pressure reading was, almost dead on when I dialed in the correct altitude.
If I leave it sitting on the table and depending on the weather conditions, the readings change dramatically and requires re-adjustment to keep it accurate.
For me, inputting the elevation is the easiest way to re-adjust the altimeter since I can normally grab that information from a topo map, where trying to figure out the correct pressure at a particular location especially when in the mountains isn't so easy.
ATN should just remove both from the menu if they don't plan on changing the firmware so the end user can input the correct information, just my two cents.
panicbutton, you are correct. ATN could save the cost of the pressure sensor and include a line of code in the BC program to enter either a known altitude or barometric pressure. Your handheld GPS will provide a GPS altitude for your specific location.
I have just sent the following to ATN support. I will update this discussion as soon as I receive a reply.
One of the problems with the 4K series is the altitude for the Ballistics Computer. The altitude is set by an internal sensor that is probably set at 29.92 inches and any barometric pressure other than 29.92 can cause large errors. One owner called ATN support and was told to just turn on his GPS for the altitude. The 4K does not have a GPS. How about a firmware change to enter a known barometric pressure or a known altitude when you enter the other environmental factors. Besides improving the BC output, ATN can save the cost of the sensor.
How about ATN just makes the scope work as advertised? that would be a change lol. i do agree though having manual input of barometric pressure and altitude would be nice for those who have external sensors. Having the scope accurately add those parameters though on the fly would be so much faster.
Now that someone has posted a reply, I'll contribute a follow up to my email. I haven't posted anything because there has been NO follow up from ATN. I waited several days after my email got no response and I called the support number. There was no one that would talk to me and I sent the email to a support person that said he would forward it to the proper person.
I saw the hype about the new Thor 4 LT but until ATN starts responding to their current customers I will not purchase anymore of their products.
Widowmaker: hob666. No. It will move the reticle to your POA. Not your POI. POI is dependent on whether your projectile impacts your POA. If you miss your POA, your POI will be the result.

Widowmaker: The ABL is a Bluetooth enabled range finder and is a supplemental input for manual distance input only. Does not care about your ballistics information or if you have your SSS turned on. Just inputs a distance of your ABL ranged target via Bluetooth
